One of the most common questions we are asked when a New Jersey driver receives a ticket is, "How many points can I get assessed on my license for my ticket?" Below is a list of the most common moving violations in New Jersey and the points assessed by the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission if you are found guilty of the offense:
N.J.S.A. 39:3-20 (Operating a construction vehicle over 45 mph): 3 points
N.J.S.A. 39:4-14.3 (Operating a motorized bicycle on a restricted highway): 2 points
N.J.S.A. 39:4-14.3d (Having more than 1 person on a motorized bicycle): 2 points
N.J.S.A. 39:4-35 (Failure to yield to a pedestrian in the crosswalk: 2 points
N.J.S.A. 39:4-36 (Failure to yield to a pedestrian in the crosswalk; passing a vehicle that is yielding to a pedestrian in the crosswalk: 2 points
N.J.S.A. 39:4-41 (Driving through a safety zone): 2 points
